When placing your speakers near a wall or other surface, the distance from the surface will vary depending on the speaker's design and the room's acoustics. Here are some general guidelines you can follow: ### **Bookshelf or stand-mounted speakers** 1. Start with a distance of 1 to 2 feet where possible. This reduces excessive bass caused by the bass port being too close to the rear wall. 2. If the speakers have rear-facing ports, give them a little extra space to avoid any issues with airflow. 3. Use speaker stands to position the speakers away from the wall. This will improve the soundstage and give you more flexibility. ### **Floorstanding speakers** 1. Position the speakers 2-3 feet from the back wall to ensure proper bass response and reduce bass reflection from the walls. 2. Experiment with the distance from the wall to find the best placement. Moving the speakers closer to the wall will increase bass, and moving them away will reduce it. Ultimately, personal preference will play the most significant role in speaker placement.
